Welcome!

Hello! This is the first post on my Great Yellow Bumblebee journey. Through my work with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust I'll be visiting the parts of north and west Scotland where this striking beast can still be found - its last refuges in the UK. Here, you can follow my progress, and share in our successes along the way as we try to help this lovely bee. The queens usually emerge from hibernation in June, so they are late risers compared with many other bumblebees - 18 different species in Scotland alone.
More to come - watch this space!

Enjoyed the blog BOB ( difficult to say this very quickly !!) Went on a hunt today for great yllows but no joy. however delighted to get over 100 small blue in the dune colony and masses of Painted lady.
i`m hoping to get to a site on the east coast ( skirza quarry ) where ther`s lots of kidney vetch and i feel there should be bees and blues. Work getting in the way at the moment but will try to sneak of if the sun keps shining, regards Mary
