The Great Yellow project
The Great Yellow bumblebee (Bombus distinguendus) is one of the UK's two rarest bumblebee species. We are very concerned about it. It is now only found in the north and west of Scotland where populations are dangerously small and isolated.
Through the work of our Conservation Officer for Scotland, Bob Dawson, we are trying to ensure that this species survives. We are working hard to try and ensure that farmers and crofters are aware of the problems that this beautiful bee is facing. By raising awareness and providing guidance we are helping them to put back some of the wildflowers that have been lost.
You can follow the progress of this project by keeping and eye on Bob's blog.
