The Shrill Carder project
The Shrill Carder bumblebee (Bombus sylvarum) is one of the UK's two rarest bumblebee species. It is now only found in six places in the UK and population sizes are dangerously low!
Pippa Rayner, our Conservation Officer for England and Wales, is dedicated to saving this species. However, many of the other rare (UKBAP) bumblebees also occur in the same places, so by helping the Shrill Carder she is helping these rare species too.
You can follow the progress of this project by keeping an eye on Pippa's blog.
This work has been made possible by a generous grant from the Esmee Fairbairn foundation and the support of the Mackintosh Foundation.
