Victory Wood is a 140-hectare (350-acre) site on the western edge of one of the largest areas of continuous ancient woodland in South East England. Known as the Blean complex, it arches over the north of Canterbury and covers an area of 28.5 square kilometres (11 square miles).

Its open habitats are home to a host of butterflies and the rare Shill Carder bee. In conjunction with the Woodland Trust, we’re offering families a small, fun event to help you find and identify the bees and butterflies that live in our precious habitat. We’re thrilled that Victory Wood is the ideal home for the rare Shrill Carder bee and hopefully you’ll spot a range of butterflies such as common blues, painted ladies, red admirals, and marbled whites amongst others. You’ll also make some bee-themed crafts to take home!. At our bee walks last year people said: “The fantastic bumblebee walk was a great way of experiencing Victory Wood, and “We loved the bee hunt for the shrill carder!”

Cost: £6 per adult; £3 per child. Booking essential.
