The day is run by Dr Nikki Gammans at the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. It is suitable for beginners and those without prior knowledge of the group.

Learn about the ecology of these attractive insects, how to identify our most common and rarest species and practise your skills in the field; to include an update on the Bombus subterraneus reintroduction project.

In the afternoon, we will be finding and identifying bumblebees at the Trust’s Burham Down Nature Reserve.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:
• Identify some (common) bumblebees by looking at key features
• Understand more about the lifecycle, conservation and/or ecology of the bumblebee
