Victory Wood Heritage Open Day

September 21, 2019 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Victory Wood, Yorkletts, Whitstable, Kent CT5 3AH

Discover a fantastic hidden relic: a sunken bunker used to monitor nuclear attack at the height of the Cold War! Descend the 15 foot vertical ladder and experience for yourself this piece of history beneath the woods. There will have a range of artefacts from the era on display, to illustrate how the bunker would have been used.

The day also includes guided walks to learn about Victory Wood, its wildlife, history and management as a Woodland Trust site. Join us, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, and visit our bumblebee stall and or join a bumblebee safari, where you’ll learn about the UK’s rarest bee, the shrill carder bee, which calls Victory Wood its home!

This event forms part of the Heritage Open Days 2019 and is free to attend. However, booking your place/s is essential so we can manage people going in and out of the bunker.  Please book your place here
