It's poetry competition time in Kent!
Kent's beautiful bumblebees . . .
The seasons changing and just as it does,
You start to hear that summer buzz,
Using rhyme for literary artistry,
Why not try your hand at poetry!
Our Making a Buzz for the Coast project in Kent, is excited to launch its 2019 poetry competition!
The competition is open to people residing in the beautiful county of Kent, a hotspot for a number of rare bumblebees, including the Shrill carder bee (Bombus sylvarum).
With some of the most beautiful coastline and countryside, we hope the people of Kent will explore the great outdoors and 'bee' creative for our bumblebees. From a limerick, ideal for children, to acrostic poems, all styles of poetry are welcome. Our one rule . . . your poem must feature our charismatic bumblebee.
The competition is open to adults, children, amateurs and professional poets - all entries received will be considered. Entries will be shortlisted by the Making a Buzz for the Coast team. The winner will then be chosen by our patron, Olly Smith a keen poetry writer himself! The winner will receive a cash prize of £100 and feature in our Member magazine 'Buzzword' in November, displayed at our AGM in October, and recognised through our social media channels and marketing material.
