Bumblebee Identification and Monitoring for beginners

Join the Trust’s Shrill Carder Project officer’s, Tom Bucher-Flynn from “Natur am Byth” & Cynefin i Wenyn project and Joseph O’Shea from the SOS: Save our shrills Somerset project, for an evening webinar learning all about Beewalk & bumblebee identification.

This event is suitable for beginners, those who want to refresh their bumblebee identification skills. and those wanting to get involved in bumblebee monitoring for the first time. Tom will provide an overview of Beewalk the national bumblebee monitoring scheme, and how you can get involved.

Moving onto identification, we will cover how to identify bumblebees as a group, and how to pick them out of all the other flying buzzing insects that call Britain home. We will then cover field identification of the ‘Big 8’ common species, and some scarce & rare bumblebee species your likely to see in the Somerset & South Wales.

This session will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes, with time at the end for questions.
