Our people
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust now boasts a team of 60 dedicated staff working across the UK. They are led by the CEO, senior management team and board of trustees, who are responsible for monitoring progress against our strategy.
Gill Perkins
Chief Executive Officer
After honing her leadership skills in the business world Gill found her way back to her first passion of conservation. She has led the Trust since 2016 overseeing all aspects of our work and ensuring we deliver against our strategy, she is responsible to the Board of Trustees. An enthusiastic vegetable gardener and amateur botanist Gill knows we can all help reverse the declines in bumblebees by taking small actions.
Dawn Ewing
Head of Fundraising and Engagement
Dawn joined the Trust in 2011 and is responsible for our Fundraising and Engagement team. With experience in the private and third sectors and a business degree to guide her, Dawn leads our team to deliver activities related to income generation, volunteer management, internal communications, digital transformation and public engagement. Dawn believes passionately in the power of volunteering and when she’s not at work she can be found helping at her local community allotment or Chairing the Parent Council at her children’s school.
Dr Amy Plowman
Head of Conservation and Science
Amy has been leading the conservation and science teams at the Trust since 2020, ensuring smooth delivery of our projects to monitor how bumblebee populations are doing, increase our understanding of what bumblebees need, create and restore bumblebee habitat and use our expertise for political advocacy. She came from a background in zoo-based conservation including animal husbandry science, UK and overseas species recovery projects and UK nature reserves. She is a strong believer in evidence-based practice to ensure that our projects are truly effective for bumblebees.
Sarah Martin
Head of Finance
Sarah has responsibility for the Trust’s Finance and Operations functions. She provides senior financial leadership and advice for the organisation and to the Board of Trustees, and ensures the effective management of the organisation’s financial, physical, information and people resources. With a background in the not for profit sector she is committed to fostering a culture of financial responsibility and transparency within the organisation.
