Group of people exploring an open field looking for Bumblebees

Did you know that we have 20 different species of bumblebee in Scotland?

Join Annie Ives Skills for Bees: Scotland Project Officer to learn more about the wonderful world of bumblebees on this guided ‘Walk & Talk’.

We will explore the tracks and trails around Morrone Birkwood to see how many different species of bumblebee we can find, and hopefully spot the elusive Blaeberry bumblebee (Bombus monticola). This site has been selected as a priority to survey for this conservation-priority bumblebee – a beautiful and distinctive scarce treasure that calls the Cairngorms home.

Please be aware that at this event, we may be catching bumblebees to take a closer look for identification purposes.

This event is dependent on bumblebee-friendly weather, so could be cancelled or rearranged at short notice. The event will last approximately 3 hours.

This event is part of a series of wildlife events for Deeside Nature Festival 2025.
