The Bumblebee Conservation Trust has announced the appointment of Dr Andrew Impey as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 2026. Dr Impey brings extensive experience in leadership, species conservation, public engagement, and strategic management.
Dr Impey’s career spans senior roles at the RSPB, the Natural Environment Research Council, CEO of Essex Wildlife Trust, and most recently as Deputy Director of Natural Environment at the City of London Corporation. His leadership has encompassed large-scale habitat management, biodiversity strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
“I am incredibly excited to join the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, working within a sector I am so passionate about,” says Dr Impey. “This is a crucial time for bumblebees across the UK, and I look forward to working with the team and partners to build on the Trust’s excellent work and take bumblebee conservation to the next level.”
Angela Style, Chair of the Board of Trustees, commented: “Andrew’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the Trust. He brings a wealth of experience which will build on the excellent work that Gill has done over the past ten years. We look forward to welcoming him in February and to working with him over the years to come to further increase the impact we are having for our bumblebees.”
Dr Impey will work closely with outgoing CEO, Gill Perkins, during a transition period to ensure continuity and maintain strong partnerships.
